Prof. Pieter Telleman joined Ventac Partners (Denmark) as Senior Advisor in 2008. He is Professor in Bio/Chemical MicroSystem and brings significant expertise in all aspects of university leadership as well as the process of commercialization of research, collaboration between universities and industry, licensing and spin-offs.
As of March 2008 Pieter Telleman is Rector at the “Bataafse Kamp” in Hengelo, The Netherlands, where he introduces new educational programs in technical and natural sciences to selected groups of young students.
Pieter Telleman received his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands) in 1987 and his M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nijmegen (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) in 1990. In 1995 he received his Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). In 2007, he concluded an executive MBA at the Centre for Technology, Economics, and Management at the Technical University of Denmark.
Following a fellowship award from the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID, Fort Detrick, MD, USA) he joined the Harvard Institutes of Medicine (Boston, USA). He subsequently assumed fellowship positions in Clinical Oncology and Experimental Pathology at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA).
In 1999, Pieter Telleman joined the Department of Micro and Nanotechnology at the Technical University of Denmark as leader of the Bio/Chemical MicroSystems Group. The Bio/Chemical MicroSystems group applies micro- and nanotechnology to the fields of chemistry, biology, biotechnology, and medical sciences.
Pieter Telleman was appointed Professor in Bio/Chemical MicroSystems in 2001. In 2003, he assumed the position of Director of the Department of Micro and Nanotechnology at the Technical University of Denmark. The department generates on average 1 start-up company in micro and nanotechnology each year.
